SMG RPG - 0.1.2 alpha

(stands for "SuperMarioGlitchy RPG") A fangame for YouTuber supermarioglitchy4 being developed by Mister Epic, with assistance from Horatio Studios & Glitchy Boy Productions. It's your typical Mairo-esque plot: Bowser has kidnapped the princess and it's up to Mario and close accomplice SMG4 to rescue her.......or is it???

Disclaimer: We are in no way affiliated with Nintendo and are not claiming any of their intellectual property. This game is supposed to be a parody of RPGs you'd expect to find on something like the SNES, and I also intend to use it to as a jumpstart into the indie game market. Given how most of the assets in the game, with the exception of music, were either made by myself, other developers who helped make the game so far, or fellow fans from the online community -- along with everything else that has been stated above -- this fangame should fall under the protection of Title 17 of the United States Code § 107. The game was made using Pygame (hence why it's on this website), with the assistance of two separate yet important modules I wrote myself: SMap (or "Simon's Map Engine") and SGE (literally "Simon's Game Engine"), the latter of which is available on GitHub (https://github.com/MrEpic382GIT/SGE). The two work together, along with various other Python libraries, to render the game and perform it's logic. The game is still being actively worked on. Disclaimer: We are in no way affiliated with Nintendo and are not claiming any of their intellectual property. This game is supposed to be a parody of RPGs you'd expect to find on something like the SNES, and I also intend to use it to have a jumpstart into the indie game market. This fangame, upon completion is to be distributed for free. Given how most of the assets in the game, with the exception of music, were either made by myself, other developers who helped make the game so far, or fellow fans from the online community -- along with everything else that has been stated above -- this fangame should fall under the protection of Title 17 of the United States Code § 107, concerning the provisions of fair use as stated below: Notwithstanding the provisions of sections 17 U.S.C. § 106 and 17 U.S.C. § 106A, the fair use of a copyrighted work, including such use by reproduction in copies or phonorecords or by any other means specified by that section, for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching (including multiple copies for classroom use), scholarship, or research, is not an infringement of copyright. In determining whether the use made of a work in any particular case is a fair use the factors to be considered shall include: 1) the purpose and character of the use, including whether such use is of a commercial nature or is for nonprofit educational purposes; 2) the nature of the copyrighted work; 3) the amount and substantiality of the portion used in relation to the copyrighted work as a whole; and 4) the effect of the use upon the potential market for or value of the copyrighted work. The fact that a work is unpublished shall not itself bar a finding of fair use if such finding is made upon consideration of all the above factors. -------------------------------------------------------- The game is played with a control scheme similar to an NES controller: WASD or arrows to move, space or enter to interact with objects or jump, and Z/X to cancel out of things or bring up the menu on the overworld.
