Windows

Get the version of pygame for your version of python.  You may need to uninstall old versions of pygame first.

Unix Distributions

1.8.0 will be packaged up for all major distributions soon.  1.7.1 is already packaged, and you can install 1.8 from source with python setup.py install.

• Debian - pygame is available through apt-get (1.7.1) (bug tracker link for 1.8 update)
  
• Ubuntu - pygame is available through apt-get in the Universe (1.7.1) (bug tracker link for 1.8 update)
  
• FreeBSD - pygame is included in standard ports as py25-game (updated to 1.8) 
• OpenBSD - pygame is included in standard ports (1.7.1) (no bug submitted yet for 1.8 update)
• Gentoo - pygame is available in the portage system (updated to 1.8)
• Fedora - Package repositories have support for pygame (1.7.1) (bug tracker link for 1.8 update)
• Suse - The Yast package system has pygame (updated to 1.8)

Macintosh

• Pygame OSX PackageManager Site - Prebuilt Pygame Packages
• MacPorts - available in the ports collection as py-game (updated to 1.8.0)
