A Rainy Day intro - 1.0

John Eriksson (wmjoers)

I wanted to create a small intro to show at the beginning of my more serious projects. It turned out quite nice I think.

It's really pretty simple, just some images I made with gimp and a public-domain rain-sound in the background.

The strange grammar ("it's an a rainy day production") is intentional. It's because the name of my site is "A Rainy Day" and can be considered to be a proper noun.

I love the way the text fades in. But just a few things:
I think you could make it much more professional if you used a less harsh rain sample (possible from and did a lot of detail in the tree/scenery. A lot of icons or insignias have a lot of design detail because they represent you all the time. So I'm not sure if you were going to change that, but if you like I can do one up for you =)

You could possibly even add a (very) small musical effect at the start, but it all depends on what effect you want to achieve. :D

Hi PyMike,
Thanks for you comments!
I've actually considered both fading out and a different text but here is way I decided against it:
- Fading out. I could fade out (I actually had it in an early version) but removed it because I thought it took too much time (several millis *smile*). And I kind of like it when the screen just suddenly blacks out *smile* When using the intro in a game it will fade in, wait a few seconds then disappear.
- The text. I considered several different texts but I liked the current version just because it's both correct and so wrong at the same time.

Oooo nice! I love the way the text fades in. Suggestions:

Have it eventually fade out, and when you press space make it fade out too. Also another possible wording is:

A Rainy

[title screen]

...Which sounds a little easier on the ears ;-)

Very nice effect. I love all your stuff - it all feels so flashy! Another job well done.
