Does the colored text work in Linux? And what about the DELETE control?
Please use the HELP view or the source code if you don't know how to.
DELETE clears the console. It uses os.system("CLS"), works on NT, but I cannot
find its equivalent on my Linux laptop (POSIX).

I also don't get it. In both of your programs you use exactly the same code. They both work for me in Linux and only one does not work on my Vista machine. Don't bother about it if nobody else reports something similar, it's probably my installation. I'll keep you posted if I ever discover what it is :)

His platform is Vista, too.

My mistake koenfever it was you as well who tried the other one :), sorry.
Well, I have a friend of mine here down here at the same university as me who tried both. He had no problem with sys.stdin.readline or any other -exception- type of problems.

What the problem could be caused by? Another person tried my Webget application which includes the same instruction, and he/she reported that it works fine. The line is same except that it is put into the configuration of Program class but that matter doesn't affect to the problem you faced.

I did it with Python 2.6. Could it be the clue?

I've tried it on Linux (OpenSuse, Python 2.5), everything worked fine. On Windows Vista however (also Python 2.5), I get this rather strange error:
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "C:\Users\Koen\Desktop\Pygames\", line 403, in <module>
username = sys.stdin.readline(16).strip()
TypeError: readline() takes exactly 1 argument (2 given)
I replaced this line by username = "koen" and everything works fine again.
