My entry for PyDay 2.5. Vecron is a hectic 2D top-view space shooter with randomly generated levels. It's quite addictive, so give it a try!


  • Rotate: Left and right arrow keys
  • Move: Up and down arrow keys
  • Shoot: Space bar

Perhaps add in a strafing feature to fix the problem with firing around corners.

This is a simply addictive game :) I found myself playing level after level. The bouncing bullets would be a pretty good idea, because those pesky blue turrets are relentless around corners. I like how each level has its own feel, and is unique. I'm about to have a look at the map generation code and see how close it is to my original :P

Thank you for the feedback :) I'm still working on this, and more features are definitely coming. We'll see about the bouncing bullets.

It would be slightly easier if the player's bullets could bounce off the walls a few times. Currently, sneaking some shots around a corner is very difficult since you have to thrust forward, turn, fire, turn back, thrust, although some clever manoeuvres could be possible if the turning were a bit quicker.

It's a nice game, though. An infinite scrolling map would make it nicer. ;-)
