Natto-Cat - 1.18

Aaron Maupin (maupin)

Natto-Cat is a unique Boulderdash style arcade game. You play as RB51, a half robot / half cat agent searching underground caves for cat snacks. Adversaries include walking, exploding custards, force-fed exploding rabbits, and expanding green peas. When enemies explode, they splatter blood (or custard) on surrounding objects, so it is a bit violent. These splatter effects can be turned off by editing a prefs file. There are 25 caves (and 6 intermissions). There are 3 difficulty levels for each cave, the highest of which is extremely challenging. Currently, only a Windows py2exe binary is available.

A very minor update. I rerecorded the umeboshi sound effects, since the original ones I created were at an abnormally low frequency. (Hey, they sounded good on my headphones...)

Players downloading Boulder Dash Construction Kit and BDCFF caves to import into Natto-Cat may have experienced crashes if those caves had gaps in the cave walls. Previously Natto-Cat never checked to make sure cave elements weren't trying to move out of bounds. This has been fixed.

I blanked the mouse pointer in fullscreen mode, and made some other minor changes/bug fixes.

I'll release the source sometime in the future. It's mostly embarassment that is holding me back. Trust me, there is no more tangled a mess of Python spaghetti code than the code for Natto-Cat... would be the perfect example of how NOT to program, if only the game didn't work well.
