GeoStrike is a vertical space shooter with vector graphics. It plays like a mix of Geometry Wars and Galaga. If you have any problems or suggestions please email me or leave a comment below. Enjoy!

Not bad at all. Solid and non-buggy, but... I can't help but feel the gameplay's a little lacking. Maybe because I'm just used to shmups with full 8-directional movement rather than just 2.

Still, it's a nice proof-of-concept.

Great little shooter. Very frantic action. A bit hard maybe. Perhaps a lull between levels would help.

Keep em coming

Hehe, I've never played either of those. But optional controls are always nice :-)

I usually don't like flash games either, but you have to admit, the graphics for them are (usually) pretty slick. Maybe I'll start working on something next week(end?) (This weekend I'm hosting PyDay #2)

Make the mouse optional... and perhaps the joystick as well. It's a little more code but the checking is simple enough to become a library module methinks. I have a big arcade control panel. My first one was keyboard controller based. My new one uses the ultrastik 360 which is a magnetic joystick. Each stick controls up to eight buttons.

Check Getting those people into all the games here would be good for retrogaming. Have you ever played Mutant Storm or neonwars (quite possibly the most braindead (in a good way) mouse only game ever)?

Don't scare me with threats of flash games.:)

Ah, ok. I think I'll make some sort of mouse-only game in pygame, and make it feel like flash :)

I know but some of us can't use the keyboard as effectively as the mouse. :) disability and whatnot. Aside from personal issues, I think GeoStrike would rock as a Galaga 3 type game with free movement over half the playing area.

I'm going to try to convert some of your games to mouse capability. Not quite unfortunately, I'm in the middle of a project which I hope will make some kind of impact here.

Thanks :-) Keyboard is more fun than mouse ;-)

Excellent work.

Question: why don't you use the mouse in this game? I noticed the same thing in your pong program.

One of yout best games.
You've really the gift to develop something simple like this game, but somehow really funny!

Love it!

Thanks :) Yeah, as far as I know hardly anyone fills out all the stuff in the license. I just stick it in there so people have to give me credit for the code if they use it ;)

always the the quality games, what's up with that pymike?

btw i think there are some parts in the license that needs to be filled out

I found a bug, if I just hold space from the beginning of the game and I don't move, I won't crash even if they hit me :o

Nice polished graphics and great movement! Cool music too.
