2d Tile Based JRPG

It's a 2d Tile Based JRPG. It's still in pretty early stages.

If you have any questions, I'll do my best to answer them. To play, just execute There is also a Map Editor called It allows saving map portions and adding items, and portals to transport the player to other locations. There is still a lot of debug text on, and the menu system needs a lot of work.

    Can you include an executable package to try out? I use the most recent versions of python and pygame for my own programming and was sadly unable to try this out with my current setup. I fixed about 10 instances of print statements throwing out errors by encapsulating each with parentheses, for instance in -
         print "Failed to load texture file '%s'!" %textureFilename
         print("Failed to load texture file '%s'!" %textureFilename)
    but I hit a dead end when string.split wasn't recognized as a valid object attribute in I'm guessing this is a version issue and the functionality has changed in the most recent releases, but I'm no expert so I can't say for sure.

    Yes. You must be using Python 3. A lot was updated then. Try using Python 2.7. If I get a chance I could try and put an executable out. Would you need a .exe or a .deb, or what would you be looking for?

    Windows Executable (exe) if possible. I'm actually having a bit of fun trying to get your game updated to work with 3.2.2, lol. I'm pretty new to Python though, so I'm not sure I can actually manage it, but it's entertaining nonetheless.

    What license are you releasing this under..?

    JamesPulec 2011-09-09 19:59

    Uhh. Probably LGPL.

    You should get on pygame's IRC channel so that we can discuss a few things.

    It's good, but There is a re-occuring attribute error because it says attribute "alive" is not defined. This causes the game to end after attacking in combat.

    It can be fixed by adding one line in PlayerData,py:

    class PlayerData(Creature.Creature):

    def __init__(self, name):

    Creature.Creature.__init__(self, name)

    self.facing = 0

    self.collisionRect = pygame.Rect(288, 216, 24, 24)

    #self.font = pygame.font.Font(None, 24)

    self.currentSkin = None

    self.rHand = None

    self.lHand = None

    self.armor = None

    self.alive = True #add this line

    There's another error, haven't figure out how to fix it yet:
