PySpaceWar - 0.9.3

Description

Two ships duel in a gravity field. Gravity doesn't affect the ships themselves (which have spanking new anti-gravity devices), but it affects missiles launced by the ships. You can play against the computer, or two players can play with one keyboard. There is also a Gravity Wars mode, where the two ships do not move, and the players repeatedly specify the direction and velocity of their missiles.

Changes

  • Keyboard controls can now be customized.
  • Keyboard controls and video mode options are stored in a config file.
  • Added the -w command line option, in case you desire to override the config file.

Nice idea, however, the game has some major flaws.
The source will not run (under windows) until sys.path.append("src/pyspacewar") is added.
If you set the resolution less than 1280*1024 you cannot reach the "back to menu"-button.
Sound appears to be missing entirely.
There seem to be borders on the edge of the screen, invisible, but suddenly the spaceship stops. This takes the speed out of the game. It may be better to let a ship reappear on the other side of the screen instead.
Its really hard to estimate the route of missiles, because gravity is invisible. Try to add field lines or colors or something to visualize it.
The radar appears to be useless.
Looks good though, keep on working on it and it could become great.
