Offslaught '81 - 1.0

Description

This is my first game and first project in Python/Pygame. The idea is that it's a tower defense game as if it had been written for a ZX-81. Due to having a 1 month deadline it is not very well commented and not the best code ever but I don't really intend to maintain it.

Great game, only missing some sounds and music.

"Did you figure that out yourself or did you have HELP?"

If I saw this in the help, I promptly forgot it and had to rediscover it during the game. ;-)

Agreed about completeness: it'd stand up well in PyWeek and the like.

"I found that placing things in places where they could have more than one chance to attack the enemy was helpful"

Did you figure that out yourself or did you have HELP? :D

I forgot to rate the game, I give it 5 because
1) it is fun,
2) as you said, the retro aspect is really convincing (show this to anyone and he/she will think it is a ROM on an emulator), and
3) it is a complete game, those are rare on this site.

Very convincing ZX-81 retro graphics! I found that placing things in places where they could have more than one chance to attack the enemy was helpful, but I guess you have to keep upgrading the stuff over time, too.

How about a teletext-based game, BBC Micro-style, for your next project? ;-)

Cool. What is the optimal setup? I guess it is possible to calculate. In the end of the game I had a lot of money, but I didn't really know what to buy and where to place things.
